2005 Sundowner Sunlite 727 3H BP – Long, Tall, Loaded & Clean!

As we said in the teaser, this Sundowner Sunlite 727 3H bumper pull came in recently for us to show as a private sale.  The owner no longer needs to haul 3 horses and is downsizing, so if you need to upsize from a 2-horse or are looking to move to a nicer or roomier trailer, this could be the one for you.   When it came in, we could see that it’s larger than your typical slant.   We got out the tape and sure enough, it is bigger.  By our tape, the body length is 18 feet, 1-2 feet longer than many 3H slants, and they put the extra length to good use.   We measure an offset of about 45” on the front stall and an offset of about 40” on the other two stalls.   The remainder of the bonus length is given over to the dressing room, which we measure at about 32” on the short wall and 80” on the long wall.   Many slants are only 7’ tall, but this one is 7’6”.  The roomy interior is quite inviting.

There’s a drop feed window at the head of each stall, including the front stall, which has a wide escape door.  There’s a 2-way vent over each stall and a slider window at the rear of each.   There’s also a slider window in each rear door.   Natural light and ventilation in this trailer are excellent.   The walls are lined.   We tapped them and judging by the dull thud, the walls are insulated  as well, a nice touch for a quiet and comfortable interior.   The padded stall dividers are spring loaded to swing out of the way as you load or unload.   The automotive-style divider latches are easy to use and quick.   (Push the divider and it clicks to latch.   Pull a little lever to release.   No need to fumble with a pin while your horse fidgets.)   Even the butt bar has a spring-loaded latch to get you out of the kick zone quickly.   At the rear, there’s a pair of loading lights and an easy-lift ramp that closes behind double doors.

The adjustable-height swing-out saddle racks may be located in the folding rear tack or in the dressing room.   There’s no rear center post, so when the tack is folded against the wall, there’s a full-width opening for convenient horse handling.  There are several contoured bridle hangers in the rear tack and another group in the dressing room.

Up in the dressing room, in addition to those previously-mentioned bridle hangers, Sundowner’s hardware includes a brush tray, blanket bar and roof vent.  The spare tire is stored in the nose, secure and out of the weather.  Owner-added accessories include a couple of compact (and removable) saddle racks and a corner cabinet with bi-fold doors and multiple shelves.   The lockable dressing room door has a large vertical slider window with screen and there’s a pass door for convenient access to the front stall. There’s a wide running board on each side for easy entry or access to windows.

We invite you to stop by and check out this roomy and well-equipped Sundowner 3H slant.   Private Sale on display at Traveled Lane.   Asking $11,600.
